No man's land by Harold Pinter( Book )

103 editions published between 1970 and 2017 in 5 languages and held by 1,768 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Harold Pinter's latest full-length play is set against the decayed elegance of a house in London's Hampstead Heath. Two men face each other over a drink. Do they know each other, or is each performing an elaborate charade of recognition? The ambiguity--and the comedy--intensify with the arrival of two younger men, the one ostensibly a manservant, the other a male secretary. All four inhabit a no man's land between time present and time remembered, between reality and imagination--a territory which Pinter explores with his characteristic mixture of biting wit, aggression, and anarchic sexuality that has continually made his plays masterpieces of the modern theater [Publisher description]

Beneath the surface comedy there are frightening implications concerning a bureaucracy ostensibly dedicated to humanitarian concerns, but where people are referred to by numbers and forgotten as easily as troublesome figures on a balance sheet. Written in 1958, The Hothouse was first performed at London's Hampstead Theatre in April, 1980, in a production directed by Pinter himself."--Jacket

Moonlight by Harold Pinter( Book )

38 editions published between 1993 and 2014 in 3 languages and held by 948 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In a dark space you can't measure, a once visceral father lies on his deathbed, looking over his life, his youth, loves, lusts and betrayals of his wife. At the same time, in another bedroom, somewhere in the same space, the man's two sons intellectually, clinically and conspiratorially speak of their relationship with their father. Side-stepping their estrangement from him, they rationalize their love-hate relationship with him and defend the distance they are incapable of closing, even when their mother calls them home. In contrast to these closed sons, is the man's daughter, the baby sister, who refuses the dourness and bridges the space between the light and dark, youth and age, and death and life. --From publisher's description
