"Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams met when both were in Taos, New Mexico, in 1929, and formed a lifelong friendship. Drawn to the American Southwest by its stark and extraordinary beauty, O'Keeffe and Adams produced bodies of work that would forever alter our perception of its landscape." "This publication and the exhibition it accompanies explore the significance of these artists' achievements in capturing the reality and essence of the world around them, and illuminate various parallels between their distinctive visions of the natural world." "Essays by Barbara Buhler Lynes (on how O'Keeffe and Adams presented themselves in their bestselling autobiographies), Richard B. Woodward (on the relationship of Stieglitz, Adams, and O'Keeffe), and Sandra S. 11 editions published in 2005 in 6 languages and held by 39 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This preoccupation with reality and illusion is most clearly realised in Morell7F 19s series of camera obscura images. He takes an ordinary room and tapes black plastic over the windows, leaving only a 3/8" hole for the light. After setting up a large-format camera in the room and pointing it at the opposite wall, Morell leaves - a single exposure takes 8 hours. In the resulting images a scene of Brooklyn floats upside-down along the walls of his son7F 19s bedroom; global landmarks like the Uffizi and the Eiffel Tower are projected across hotel rooms. In this, Morell7F 19s best known and most ambitious series, the distinction between the outside and the domestic world is merged and his preoccupation with the mechanics of human vision and the principles of photography is illuminated

William Eggleston : a cor americana by William Eggleston( Book )

1 edition published in 2015 in Portuguese and held by 12 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"William Eggleston, American Color" is one of the biggest exhibitions ever done on the photographer and will bring to Brazil for the first time an extensive selection of works from 1960's and 1970's, considered to be Egglestonœs golden years. One of the rooms will feature many of the photos included in the legendary 1976 exhibition at MoMA. Two other rooms will present the famous portfolio Los Alamos, which resulted from a series of road trips around the Mississippi Delta and all the way to California from 1965 to 1974. The photos on display will include over 150 rare and delicate photographs made through dye-transfer, a near-extinct printing technique, which became the artistœs trademark for allowing him a precise control of color and intense saturation. To those who are already familiar with Egglestonœs work, the exhibition will also feature lesser-known, but still important works from the period. Among them, the formidable set of portraits made on bars and streets with a large format camera in 1974 and known as 5x7, in reference to the size of the film used. A set of five black and white photos, made before Eggleston embraced color definitively, will also be on display. The experimental film Stranded in Canton, shot in black and white in 1973 and 1974, with improvisations, performances and intimate footage of family members and friends in the bars of New Orleans will also be on view
