Histological typing of testis tumours by F. K Mostofi( Book )

22 editions published between 1976 and 1998 in English and Italian and held by 349 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The second edition of this book is the result of collaborative efforts of pathologists from 9 countries. It is more extensive than the previous edition published in 1977. The basic histological classification of the various categories has been retained since it has gained world-wide popularity; however, the individual categories have been described in more detail. A number of new entities have been included: placental site trophoblastic tumour, large cell calcifying Sertoli cell tumour, cystic granulosa cell tumour of infancy, tumour of ovarian epithelial type, testicular lesion of adrenogenital syndrome, and testicular lesion of androgen insensitivity syndrome. Since the first edition, a number of tumour markers have been used in clinical diagnosis, staging, and monitoring the response to therapy. The cells of origin of the two widely used markers have been identified. This revised edition contains 175 colour photomicrographs."--BOOK JACKET
Histological typing of kidney tumours by F. K Mostofi( Book )

18 editions published between 1981 and 1998 in English and Undetermined and held by 345 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The second edition of this book, originally published in 1981, is the result of a collaborative effort of pathologists from 6 countries. It is more extensive than the first edition. Renal adenomas have been presented in more detail. Several new entities unrecognized in 1981 have been discussed including metanephric adenoma, chromophobe carcinoma, and renal medullary carcinoma. More extensive definition and discussion of nephroblastic lesions is given including mesoblastic nephroma and cystic nephroma. Two new entities are included: clear cell sarcoma and rhabdoid tumour. A list of miscellaneous tumours such as small cell carcinoma, ossifying renal tumour, renal hamartoma, and nephrogenic adenofibroma is also added. A number of new tumour-like lesions have been included. The text of the revised edition contains 145 colour photomicrographs."--BOOK JACKET
Histological typing of prostate tumours by F. K Mostofi( Book )

19 editions published between 1979 and 2002 in English and held by 339 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This revision of the book originally published in 1980 is the result of a collaboration among scientists from 10 countries. The authors include not only pathologists but also a urologist and a basic scientist. The second edition - containing 146 colour photographs - is considerably more extensive than its predecessor. A number of new entities, unrecognized in 1980, are included: prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, which is commonly associated with carcinoma and may also be seen in a biopsy for elevated PSA; basal cell carcinoma; small cell carcinoma; paracrine-endocrine elements; variants of carcinoma; and stromal sarcoma. The criteria for the diagnosis of carcinoma have been expanded, including the minimal criteria. The Gleason grading system, based on growth pattern, is presented in detail. The WHO grading system, based on nuclear anaplasia and glandular differentiation, is more clearly defined
Histological typing of urinary bladder tumours by F. K Mostofi( Book )

18 editions published between 1973 and 1999 in English and Italian and held by 322 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The 1973 WHO classification of bladder tumours anticipated a probable need for eventual revision of the criteria for diagnosing papillary and flat bladder neoplasia. A workshop sponsored by WHO consisting of pathologists, urologists, cytologists, oncologists and basic scientists interested in bladder tumours addressed this subject and, after a follow-up meeting sponsored by the International Society of Urological Pathology, the classification and terminology used in this text were agreed upon. A major change is in the introduction of a new category: papillary urothelial neoplasm of low malignant potential. Many of the tumours previously designated as papillary transitional cell carcinoma, grade I now fall into that category. Another major change is in the designation of flat lesions, and this includes a definition of carcinoma in situ. Furthermore, a number of variant forms of urothelial carcinomas are included as well as new entities not recognized when the first edition was issued."--BOOK JACKET

6 editions published between 1967 and 2014 in German and English and held by 60 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

During the past decade there has been an increasing awareness of the need for a different approach to the problem of bilharziasis. We do know that 180-200 million people are infected and that the infection is increasing but we have not as yet been able to answer the question: Are they suffering from a disease. Study of vital statistics or hospital records, mass biochemical or immunological tests and community surveys have not yet provided the full answer. Gradually and perhaps begrudgingly, we have come to realize that we must study the ma- initially by means of well controlled clinical observations to obtain evidence for the altered physiology, if any, due to bilharzial infection; secondly and equally important through pathological studies on individual patients to determine the structural changes, if any, as a result of infection with this parasite; and by post mortem studies. Experimental studies of bilharzial infection in animals, valuable as they may be for the elucidation of the pathogenesis of the lesions in the laboratory animal and in man cannot serve as a substitute for the precise information on the nature of the possible lesions induced by bilharziasis in man. Basically, the significance of any clinical observation can 'be evaluated only through reliable pathological confirmation
