We welcome you to The Power of Anaerobes. This conference serves two purposes. One is to celebrate the life of Harry D. Peck, Jr.,who was born May 18, 1927 and would have celebrated his 73rd birthday at this conference. He died November 20, 1998. The second is to gather investigators to exchange views within the realm of anaerobic microbiology, an area in which tremendous progress has been seen during recent years. It is sufficient to mention discoveries of a new form of life (the archaea), hyper or extreme thermophiles, thermophilic alkaliphiles and anaerobic fungi. With these discoveries has come a new realization about physiological and metabolic properties of microorganisms, and this in turn has demonstrated their importance for the development, maintenance and sustenance of life on Earth.

Final Technical Report ( Book )
30 editions published between 1993 and 2009 in English and held by 2 libraries worldwide
The Phase I program met or exceeded all the program goals. During the Phase I program, CCR personnel communicated directly with Dr. Al Moretti at Fermilab concerning the design and specifications. Results of the Phase I program were also presented at the MUON Accelerator Conference in Berkeley, California in February 2005. This review of the design by accelerator scientists provided additional verification of the approach and predicted performance. Results for specific program tasks are described below. In addition, CCR performed a preliminary investigation for a 10 MW device at the request of personnel at Fermi National Laboratory. Results of that task are also provided.
Mechano-chemical self-organization and nonlinear dynamics in sedimentary basins]. Technical progress report ( Book )
9 editions published between 1989 and 1993 in English and held by 1 library worldwide
This report summarizes work carried out between October 1, 1992 and September 30, 1993 at the Nuclear Physics Laboratory of the University of Colorado, Boulder. The experimental program in intermediate-energy nuclear physics is very broadly based; it includes pion-nucleon and pion-nucleus studies at LAMPF and TRIUMF, kaon-nucleus scattering at the AGS, and equipment development for experiments at the next generation of accelerator facilities.
Solubility, viscosity and density of refrigerant ( Book )
7 editions published between 1993 and 1994 in English and held by 1 library worldwide
This report presents results on low refrigerant concentration (70, 80, 90, and 100 weight percent lubricant) mixtures of the following fluids: CFC-12/ISO 32 naphthenic mineral oil; HCFC-22/ISO 32 naphthenic mineral oil; and HFC-134a/ISO 32 pentaerythritol ester mixed acid. These data have been reduced to engineering form and are presented in the form of a Daniel Chart. Scatter diagrams are given for the first fluid listed above, with the intent of illustrating the quality of data as well as providing the rationale for selecting the particular functional forms chosen to represent the experimental data. Equations are given along with statistical measures of goodness of fit.
Investigation of transitions from order to chaos in dynamical systems]. Annual progress report ( Book )
7 editions published between 1990 and 1994 in English and held by 1 library worldwide
This report discusses: torus structure in higher dimensional hamiltonian systems; particle heating and stochastic web diffusion; scaling behavior of coupled conservative nonlinear systems; box counting algorithm and dimensional analysis of a pulsar; and universality of coupled nonlinear systems. (LSP).
Chemical interactions in multimetal ( Book )
6 editions published between 1991 and 2004 in English and held by 1 library worldwide
Mechanistic explanations have been found for the migration of atoms and ions through the zeolite channels leading to specific distribution of ions and the metal clusters. In this report, we summarize the state of understanding attained on a number of topics in the area of mono- and multimetal/zeolite systems, to which our recent research has made significant contributions. The following topics are discussed: (1) Formation of isolated metal atoms in sodalite cages; (2) differences of metal/zeolite systems prepared by ion reduction in channels or via isolated atoms; (3) rejuvenation of Pd/NaY and Pd/HY catalysts by oxidative redispersion of the metal; (4) formation of mono- or bimetal particles in zeolites by programmed reductive decomposition of volatile metal complexes; (5) cation-cation interaction as a cause of enhanced reducibility; (6) formation of palladium carbonyl clusters in supercages; (7) enhanced catalytic activity of metal particle-proton complexes for hydrocarbon conversion reactions; (8) stereoselectivity of catalytic reactions due to geometric constraints of particles in cages.
Research in theoretical nuclear physics]. [School of Physics and Astronomy, Univ. of Minnesota ( Book )
6 editions published between 1989 and 2005 in English and held by 1 library worldwide
A theoretical study of problems relevant to the hadron physics program at Jefferson Laboratory and at other laboratories around the world.
ARTI Refrigerant Database ( Book )
17 editions published between 1992 and 1999 in English and held by 1 library worldwide
The Refrigerant Database consolidates and facilitates access to information to assist industry in developing equipment using alternative refrigerants. The underlying purpose is to accelerate phase out of chemical compounds of environmental concern. The database provides bibliographic citations and abstracts for publications that may be useful in research and design of air- conditioning and refrigeration equipment. The complete documents are not included, though some may be added at a later date. The database identifies sources of specific information on R-32, R-123, R-124, R- 125, R-134a, R-141b, R142b, R-143a, R-152a, R-290 (propane), R-717 (ammonia), ethers, and others as well as azeotropic and zeotropic blends of these fluids. It addresses polyalkylene glycol (PAG), ester, and other lubricants. It also references documents addressing compatibility of refrigerants and lubricants with metals, plastics, elastomers, motor insulation, and other materials used in refrigerant circuits.
