The OCLC Research WorldCat Identities project is ending. The work provided valuable insight into how to mine bibliographic data for insight into the People and Organizations that create and serve as subjects library materials. The findings demonstrated the power of data mining over the world’s largest set of bibliographic metadata and highlighted the value of collaborative collective cataloging. The WorldCat Identities data has positively impacted OCLC’s work to build the WorldCat Entities application and the 150 million Person and Work descriptions accessible through it. This work will continue to build our entity ecosystem to support the future knowledge work of librarians.

The WorldCat Identities web application will be retired and shut down in the coming months and the data is no longer being updated. The most recent version of the data is from July of 2022. As OCLC continues to build out the WorldCat Entities ecosystem, please use it as a source for persistent Person identifiers. https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity

This intimate memoir of the Nobel laureate, written by his wife and lab partner, analyzes the nature and significance of the Curies' experiments. In addition to a biographical profile, it features accounts of the couple's scientific contemporaries and Marie Curie's autobiographic notes of her own work with radiation. A delightful book. -- The New York Times

"Pioneering scientist and winner of two Nobel Prizes Marie Curie (1867-1934) describes in this interesting firsthand account the painstaking laboratory research that led to her discovery of radium and other radioactive substances. This groundbreaking work in the area of natural radioactivity, done in partnership with her husband, Pierre Curie, proved to be an important milestone in understanding the structure of matter." "Tragically, her many years of close work with radioactive substances eventually had deleterious health consequences and she died of leukemia. This story of her work, told in her own words, reveals a courageous and dedicated scientist who gave everything for the advance of science."--BOOK JACKET

19 editions published between 1921 and 2013 in 4 languages and held by 135 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Marie Curie by Nick Healy( Book )

1 edition published in 2006 in English and held by 70 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The facts are amazing, both the life story and the ... science: how Curie overcame discrimination against women and came from Poland to study at the Sorbonne; how she and her husband, Pierre, launched the nuclear age when they identified radium, a discovery for which they shared the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1903. After his death Marie became the first female professor in France and won a second Nobel Prize, for chemistry, in 1911. Best of all are the final pages that take excerpts from notes that concluded her 1923 biography of her husband"--Booklist
