The Story of Paducah carries one back to the earliest knowledge of the city, to the time the Chickasaw Indians inhabited it. The city was first called Pekin but was afterward changed to Paducah, named for the Indian chief "Paduke" who lived here. Paducah is abundant in hisoty and no one knew it better and was more acquainted with the facts than the writer who spent many days, months and years in the collection of data on the happenings of the time. the story is told in a very interesting manner and is a delight to read, for both young and old. Paducah was platted in 1827 and incorporated as a town in January, 1830. This, the second printing of "Story of Paducah" has been revised and brought to the present time by his wife, Cathering Neuman Adams
