As the moon rises, he and his mother begin their nightly search for food, using their special fingers and acute hearing to find delicate morsels. They also stay away from humans, some who are eager to find them and some who fear them. When Ako begins to play with brown lemurs, he becomes visible to the human visitors to the forest, exciting the searchers and relieving those who were afraid of the aye-aye
