"-- La Ville dont le prince est un enfant est une pièce de théâtre en trois actes d'Henry de Montherlant, publiée pour la première fois en 1951. La Ville dont le prince est un enfant (dont le titre est tiré d'un verset de l'Ecclésiaste : "Malheur à la ville dont le prince est un enfant") a été l'une des premières œuvres de Montherlant, ébauchée dès 1912 sous le titre de Serge Sandrier, puis reprise et transformée pendant presque 40 ans avant d'être publiée avec précautions en 1951. Son aspect autobiographique, que, de son vivant, l'auteur déniait maladroitement, est aujourd'hui reconnu : le héros, Sevrais, c'est Montherlant. Il publiera en 1969, peu de temps avant sa mort, un roman, Les Garçons, dont la même pièce est le cœur (dans cette version, André Sevrais devient Alban de Bricoule).
