A preface to Chaucer; studies in medieval perspectives by D. W Robertson( Book )

57 editions published between 1962 and 2016 in English and Undetermined and held by 1,733 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

What were the medieval stylistic, aesthetic, and literary conventions that Chancer drew upon and knew that his audience would understand? In this rich study Mr. Robertson has included 118 illustrations-of medieval sculpture, cathedral interiors, illuminated manuscripts, paintings, ornamental devices and decorations-to show how these conventions affected the visual arts of Chaucer's time. Special attention is directed to fundamental differences between medieval and modern attitudes toward poetry, and to the significance of these differences for an approach to medieval art. By placing Chaucer fully in his own time, Mr. Robertson establishes new perspectives for understanding Chaucer's poetry. His book is like a rich tapestry weaving together many threads. Originally published in 1962. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These paperback editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905
On Christian doctrine by Augustine( Book )

19 editions published between 1958 and 1997 in English and held by 1,132 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This translation of St. Augustine's De doctrina Christiania is based on the Benedictine text. Quotations from the Bible appear in the Douay-Rheims version, but the footnotes contain reference in brackets to indicate the location of corresponding verses in the King James Bible where the Bible contains the same material arranged according to a different system. Essentially, On Christian Doctrine is an introduction to the interpretation and explanation of the Bible."--Translator's preface and introduction

Electromagnetic Field Probes by William Robert Free( Book )

3 editions published between 1972 and 1973 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report summarizes the accomplishments on a program to develop improved electromagnetic field probes, measurement techniques, and measurement procedures for performance radiated measurements in shielded enclosures over the 20 to 200 MHz frequency range. A set of three electromagnetic field probes to cover the 20 to 200 MHz frequency range was developed and evaluated. The results from the evaluation of the probes indicate that the set of improved probes is capable of providing significantly improved performance over probes currently in use for radiated measurements in shielded enclosures over the 20 to 200 MHz frequency range. The development and evaluation of a lossy-wall measurement technique are described. This technique requires coating the inside walls of the shielded enclosure with a lossy material to reduce the Q of the interior of the enclosure. The results from an evaluation of this measurement technique indicate that it reduces the maximum measurement error by more than 20 dB both above the lowest resonance of the enclosure, where resonance coupling predominates, and below the lowest resonance, where wall coupling predominates
