The Changing politics of education : prospects for the 1980's : proceedings of a symposium by Edith K., Ed Mosher( Book )

4 editions published in 1978 in English and held by 386 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume records the proceedings of a symposium in which scholars and practitioners from a variety of fields assessed present and future trends in the politics of education. It links relevant past events to significant trends in educational governance and policy-making and contributes to an understanding of the influences and demands that will shape educational policy analysis in future research, teaching, and practice of educational administration. The contributors seek to narrow the gap between research and practice, while also creating a bridge connecting the preoccupations of educators and political analysts with those of professionals in other disciplines. In a similar way, they consider problems that span all sectors of education--elementary, secondary, and postsecondary. Central to all the chapters is the assumption that, in spite of conflicts and concerns brought on by fluctuations in the economy and the instability of needs for educational services, change is likely to be of an incremental nature. Implicit in all chapters and explicit in the final ones is the need for renewed attention to the preservice and inservice preparation of educational administrators. (Author/JM)

A conference was held in august 1963 to explore the possibility of joint social inquiry by the three represented disciplines of political science, sociology, and educational administration. This book contains the proceedings and results of the conference. Discussions were centered about four major subjects--(1) main trends in community power relations were reported as they have been performed by academicians and professional administrators in the united states during the past 15 years, (2) ways are suggested in which current research can be modified to maximize its utility to professional educational administrators, (3) guidelines were determined for the future development of research in community politics and education, and (4) ways are discussed in which the theorist-researcher's political and social values help to shape his concepts, theories, observations, and conclusions. Linking processes in educational improvement : concepts & applications by Nicholas Nash( Book )

1 edition published in 1977 in English and held by 133 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume is designed to achieve several objectives--to produce for educational leaders an up-to-date synthesis on the role of linking agents and agencies in educational improvement activities and, in the process, to identify and discuss important knowledge utilization issues of interest to the research, development, and training communities; to address the immediate realities that internal and external linkers confront and to shed light on the kinds of organizational, human, and knowledge resources available to them; and to provide better bases for advancing linking through new plans and developments. The organization of this volume is intended to illuminate the role of those linking agents engaged in or providing support for improvement in local educational agencies, either internally or externally. The volume synthesizes key concepts and findings about change processes, uses of knowledge in change, the management of change, the functions of linking agencies in improvement activities, the attributes and skill clusters needed by external linking agents to function effectively, and a national training system for both internal and external linkers.
