In the fall of 1818, John Keats met Fanny Brawne through neighbors at his Wentworth Place residence in Hampstead. Brawne provided compassion and sympathy while Keats grieved over the untimely death of his brother, Tom, and he soon fell deeply in love with the intelligent eighteen-year-old. Brawne accepted his marriage proposal in the fall of 1819, but Keats saw her less and less frequently as his health began to decline. By the time he removed himself to Rome and succumbed to tuberculosis in February 1821, they still had not married. Featuring beautifully intricate panel designs by George W. Hood, this 1904 work by English author and poet Richard Le Gallienne traces some of the most famous love stories in history, including the tragically brief relationship of John Keats and Fanny Brawne

""The diary which Samuel Pepys kept from January 1660 to May 1669 ... is one of our greatest historical records and ... a major work of English literature," writes the renowned historian Paul Johnson. A witness to the coronation of Charles II, the Great Plague of 1665, and the Great Fire of 1666, Pepys chronicled the events of his day. Originally written in a cryptic shorthand, Pepys's diary provides an astonishingly frank and diverting account of political intrigues and naval, church, and cultural affairs, as well as a quotidian journal of daily life in London during the Restoration."--Jacket
