This study on job enrichment was undertaken because the participation of workers in the management of their employment is a matter of rising interest in several countries of various political, economic, and social states, some of which have only recently entered upon industrialization. The study contains four parts. Part I, Theoretical background, defines terms and discusses various political idealogies and theories of management organization. Part ii, Management experiments in participation, examines joint consultation and worker representation on management boards, and work restructuring Part iii, Case studies in participation, looks at six different examples of worker involvement. Part iv gives conclusions. The overall conclusion is that, on balance, organizations using means of participation have produced worthwhile results in terms of productivity, morale, and lower labor turnover.
