Meeting God in man by
Ladislaus Boros(
Book
)
49 editions published between 1967 and 1984 in 6 languages and held by 450 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The key to holiness for modern man lies in the fullest possible development of his own humanity. The old-time practices of silent prayer and withdrawal from the world are no longer relevant in this day and age. Rather, to become fully human and thus achieve holiness, he must be present to his fellow man. The author emphasizes that man will reach God only through his brother, for there he will find Christ. His fully human life on earth is the most perfect example for all humanity and the ideal on which man must model his own life in order to realize complete growth as a human being and attain that true holiness which the person of Christ epitomizes. In imitation of Christ, then, one must know, love and identify with all humans

Hidden God by
Ladislaus Boros(
Book
)
22 editions published between 1971 and 1977 in 4 languages and held by 380 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This book does not pretend to answer the poignant lament of our age of searching: "they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him" (John 20:13) but it does try to help man rediscover God -- who is 'closer to him than his own heart.' Rather than focus on God's distance, or on the depths of our human need as examined by today's "negative" theology, Boros speaks instead of the nearness of God, and of God's presence as the source of peace and joy ..." from overleaf

Living in hope; future perspectives in Christian thought by
Ladislaus Boros(
Book
)
30 editions published between 1968 and 1992 in 5 languages and held by 338 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This book will attempt to define human life in terms of hope and to formulate the question of God in the light of man's expectations for the future. Christian inquiry must be directly to what is open, not yet final and settled, still to come. For hope is not just one item in Christian life; it is the absolutely indispensable condition for actually engaging in that life." [Preface]

Speaks of God's presence within us, the meaning of joy, silent meditation, the Christian attitude of love. Though the meditations stem from the Nativity, they provide much meaning and inspiration for living our Christian life every day of the year. For living our Christianity has to be an ongoing thing. "All that we do is to drive furiously after God, without ever catching him up or overtaking him. On our earthly level of existence this may seem very distressing; in fact it is the precondition for boundless happiness: the joy of seeking God."

God is with us by

"It is not my purpose to offer proofs of the existence of God. My intention is much more modest: it is an attempt to take the experience of life as lived in our own time, and the personal and existential modes of thought which are the philosophical expression this experience has created, and from them to construct ways to God ... It is my purpose to attempt, however daunting this may seem, a philosophical investigation into the existential nature of the man Jesus. With some temerity I shall try to "apprehend" the figure of Jesus in the concepts of human thought, with the object of showing that there was once a man who lived a life not only more perfect and more human than the lives of the rest of us, but lived in a fundamentally different way ... To sum up: the purpose of these essays is simply to show that the concepts of our human thought are inadequate to the reality of Jesus, but in the very failure of our attempt to understand, Jesus becomes the existential way to God." )
5 editions published between 1976 and 1977 in English and held by 211 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Angels are beings Christians seem for the most part to have forgotten. In this exciting set of meditations, the author traces with reverence and contemporary appeal the relevance of angels, on the basis of Jesus' mission as the unique Angel of God. The author brings out with his usual skill and lucidity the various ways in which angelic beings make the transcendent world manifest to man. His texts are accompanied by the moving illustrations of the leading Swiss artist, Max von Moos." [Back cover]
