"Die den Logos-Fragmenten von Hans Zender zugrunde liegenden Texte sind hauptsächlich auf das erste und zweite Jahrhundert unserer Zeitrechnung zu datieren und stammen u.a. aus dem Neuen Testament, frühen gnostischen Schriften sowie apokryphen Quellen. Bei diesen Texten handelt es sich teils um Bruchstücke aus größeren Zusammenhängen, teils sind sie selbst schon in aphoristischer Form überliefert. Bei aller Verschiedenheit in Sprachform und Tonfall sind sie aber verbunden durch ein ähnliches geistiges und religiöses Klima. Aus der Perspektive des Glaubens umkreisen sie zentrale Fragen des Menschseins: den Ursprung des Menschen, seine Lebenskraft, sein Leiden und Schicksal, den Weg des Einzelnen, das Verhältnis von Körper und Geist sowie die Beziehungen der Menschen untereinander. Bei der Komposition seiner Logos-Fragmente verfolgte Zender aber das Entstehen möglichst unterschiedlicher musikalischer Einheiten - entsprechend der aus so verschiedenen Quellen kompilierten Textgrundlage: Der Charakter, die formalen Eigenschaften und die Dauer der verschiedenen Teile sollten möglichst stark differieren. Und, was das Verhältnis der Teile zueinander betrifft, sollte Substanzgemeinschaft - etwa in Gestalt von wiederkehrenden Motiven, Melodien oder Harmonien - ausdrücklich vermieden werden. Auch wurden die einzelnen Teile nicht im Hinblick auf einen Zyklus geplant: Jedes Fragment kann auch für sich alleine stehen; entsprechend blieb auch die Reihenfolge der Stücke unbestimmt."(Pressemitteilung SWR)
