16 editions published in 2001 in English and held by 463 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"One of Britain's pre-eminent postwar painters and among the most internationally collected of living artists, Frank Auerbach has spent all of his adult life in London and delights in the city's colours and forms. Both his oil paintings and his drawings reveal the intense observation and furious mark-making that he employs to arrive at the essence of his subjects." "This book is published to accompany a major retrospective held at the Royal Academy of Arts to mark Auerbach's seventieth year. Norman Rosenthal considers Auerbach's paintings in the contexts of London and of Western art. Catherine Lampert, curator of the exhibition, contributes an essay on the painter and his sitters, and Isabel Carlisle introduces each of the four sections of catalogue plates. The book illustrates in full colour many works in private collections, providing the most comprehensive survey in print of Auerbach's unique and compelling work."--Jacket

Jeff Koons : conversations with Norman Rosenthal by Jeff Koons( Book )

6 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 379 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The most successful of living artists Jeff Koons has been a focus of creative fascination and significance for more than thirty years, but has always remained guarded about his intellectual life, influences and motivation. The distinguished curator and long-time Koons friend and collaborator Sir Norman Rosenthal has, for the first time, removed that guard. This important book provides the most revealing portrait yet of Jeff Koons's singular personality and artistic vision. Rosenthal's masterful interviews, conducted over four years, give unparalleled access to Koons thoughts, disclosing the artist undistorted and in his own words. As well as examining all his major series in depth, from his first inflatables to his latest series on antiquities, the interviews shed new light on the artists interest in other artists works, reveal the significance of his youth and family life on his art, and explain the key concepts of his practice, such as his ideas on self- acceptance, banality, ecstasy and sex

Anish Kapoor's sculptures represent an important position in contemporary art. Born in Bombay in 1954 and living in London since the early 1970s, he combines Western and Eastern influences to create special work. He became famous with large-scale sculptures in public spaces, most recently on the occasion of the Olympic games in London in 2012. His multi awardwinning work (1991 Turner prize) has been exhibited worldwide since his first solo exhibition in 1980. The monograph gives a concentrated overview of his diverse oeuvre of the last 40 years, from the pigment works to the mirror works and large polished sculptures. In the main section, the temporary, site-related works in the Martin-Gropius-Bau, such as the " ..." in the spectacular, central hall, are documented in sketches, models and installation photos. These new works, which impressively frame the architecture of the Martin-Gropius-Bau, are elaborately illustrated and elucidated
