Diese CD vereint 3 Werke französischer Komponisten, deren Geburtsjahre zwar nur 10 Jahre auseinanderliegen (zwischen 1865 und 1875), die Entstehungszeit der Werke erstreckt sich allerdings über einen weitaus längeren Zeitraum: Paul Dukas hat sein sinfonisches Scherzo L'apprenti sorcier nach Goethes Ballade Der Zauberlehrling 1897 vertont. Ma mère l'oye (Mutter Gans) aus einer französischen Märchensammlung des 17. Jahrhunderts war zunächst eine pianistische Miniatur von Maurice Ravel, die er mit Hingabe in ein farbenfroh schillerndes Orchesterwerk verwandelte (1908-1912). Fast 50 Jahre lang arbeitete Charles Koechlin an seiner Komposition Dschungelbuch, die durch das gleichnamige Buch von Rudyard Kipling inspiriert wurde. 1939 entstand Les Bandar-log, genannt nach einer Gruppe Menschenaffen, die in seiner Komposition diverse Richtungen der zeitgenössischen Musik im wahrsten Sinn des Wortes nach-"äffen" - eine grandiose Mischung aus Humor und Poesie. Eine Einspielung, die aufgrund der Werke durchaus auch für Kinder (das Beiheft führt kindgerecht in die zugrunde liegenden Texte ein) geeignet ist
