Bartoli continues her exploration of Steffani's music by championing his last and greatest masterpiece - her first Stabat Mater since the best-selling Pergolesi recording.&quot;La Bartoli sings as enthrallingly as ever, and with this new CD reasserts her place as No.1 in the international diva firmament.&quot; - Financial Times Germany on Mission. Cecilia Bartoli&#39;s exploration of the music of Steffani continues on from her best-selling recording &lsquo;Mission&#39; with an album of the celebrated Stabat Mater alongside Steffani&#39;s greatest sacred works for chorus, orchestra and soloists, constituting the most comprehensive collection of Steffani&#39;s sacred choral music on CD. Bartoli leads an array of internationally celebrated singers including countertenor Franco Fagioli, the bass Salvo Vitale and the two young German tenors Daniel Behle and Julian Pr&eacute;gardien. Steffani&#39;s Stabat Mater is his masterpiece, completed shortly before he died in 1728. It has been described as the most powerful expression of his religious fervour and, at almost half an hour, the largest-scale, most complex and heartfelt of his compositions outside his operas. The opening solo &quot;Stabat Mater dolorosa&quot; featured on the &lsquo;Mission&#39; DVD. The album is completed by six world premiere recordings of the best of Steffani&#39;s remaining sacred music, including Sperate in Deo and Laudate Pueri. These are scored for orchestra, chorus and soloists featuring two young baroque-specialist sopranos Nuria Rial and Yetzabel Arias Fernandez alongside Behle, Pregardien and Vitale. Also amongst these world premieres is Non plus me Ligate, a seven-minute solo motet for Cecilia Bartoli. Released in the same month is an album of Steffani&#39;s greatest orchestral music &lsquo;Ouvertures et Danzes&#39; with Diego Fasolis and I Barocchisti</p>

Carnegie Hall at 100 a place of dreams by Midori( Visual )

1 edition published in 1991 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Tribute to Carnegie Hall, New York, in the form of a series of brief interviews with performers who have appeared on its stage. They share reminiscences of their own and others' performances, relay historical information, and discuss the variety of Carnegie Hall's presentations, which have included classical music, jazz, pop, comedy, drama, dance, children's concerts, and folk music. Archival footage of illustrious performers of the past and excerpts from more recent performances provide a sampling of the hall's offerings. A montage of the activities of past and present tenants of the building's many studios illustrates its importance to the arts. Tenants and supporters are seen protesting a proposed demolition in 1960, which would have had disastrous and wide-ranging effects. Interspersed through the program are excerpts from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an exhibition, played by the New York Youth Symphony conducted by Samuel Wong
