"Newton's collection of portraits from the worlds of film, fashion, politics and culture can be considered a pantheon of VIPs ... Anyone who had a portrait made by him knew what the result would be, and by the 1980s there were absolutely no 'beautiful people' in this world who did not want to be photographed by him. In front of his camera, both men and women peeled off their covers - literally as well as figuratively. His brilliant staged creations celebrate the attractiveness and prominence of his models as well as their vanity and imperfections. Newton's top-quality work for major fashion journals and elitist art magazines is likewise first-class erotic art. This collection was first published ... in 1985"--Publisher's description

INDIVIDUAL PHOTOGRAPHERS. TRILINGUAL. IN ENGLISH / FRENCH / GERMAN. Agent provocateur: Top shots from Helmut Newton. Helmut Newton (1920-2004) is remembered as one of the most prolific photographers of the 20th century, channeling the sensuality and erotic power of his subjects with panache, precision, and impact. 2 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 49 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Photographers Mark Arbeit, George Holz and Just Loomis met Helmut Newton in the late 1970s when they were his students and studio assistants at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Over the years, as each of their careers evolved, the boys from Pasadena kept in touch with their mentor, sharing their photography with both him and his wife June. After Newton's death in 2004, June conceived the idea to host an exhibition with Arbeit, Holz and Loomis at the Helmut Newton Foundation, which was mounted in 2009. Through a collection of photographs, letters and memorabilia, Three Boys from Pasadena celebrates three decades of a unique mentorship and friendship, intertwining the boys and their relationship and history with Newton together with their own photography
Autobiography by Helmut Newton( Book )

11 editions published between 2002 and 2005 in English and German and held by 43 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A master of the risqué, Helmut Newton scandalized and intrigued the world for half a century with his provocative photographs of women and his "bad boy" persona. Here, Newton presents a candid portrait of himself, providing insights into the connection between his life and work. Born in Berlin in 1920 to a wealthy Jewish family, Newton was overprotected. He purchased his first camera at 12, beginning a fascination with photography. Barely eighteen when Kristallnacht tore Germany apart, Newton managed to escape, heading for China. He arrived in Singapore and soon became a gigolo and lover of an older woman. But talk of interning German Jews became prevalent even on the streets of Singapore, so he decamped once more and spent five years in the Australian army. Then he opened his first studio in Melbourne, and married. In the 1950s Newton moved to Paris, where he continued to astonish clients with his beautiful and provocatively erotic images of women. His distinctive visual vocabulary has been widely imitated.--From publisher description
