Die Schöpfung by Joseph Haydn( )

37 editions published between 1986 and 2012 in 4 languages and held by 577 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Haydn gave birth to a new type of oratorio that reflected perfectly the spirit of his time. With German texts, direct expression of feelings and many grand choruses, it stood for the transition from the aristocracy to a bourgeois society, in which music-making in a group was seen as an expression of civil pride. Extremely popular with amateur choirs, performances with a large ensemble became the rule until well into the 20th century. And the 1960 Electrola recording represents this tradition, with a top-class trio of soloists consisting of the great Elisabeth Grummer, outstanding tenor Josef Traxel and Gottlob Frick, "the blackest of all bass singers"

Taped at La Monnaie in Brussels in May 1998, this production of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo has become an operatic classic in a few short years. Choreographer/director Trisha Brown, conductor René Jacobs, and designer Roland Aeschlimann have created an ideal fusion of words, action, sight, and sound, one that never lets the viewer down and manages to tell the story in an elegant, unusual, and ultimately intensely moving manner
Missa solemnis by Ludwig van Beethoven( Recording )

"The performances of the Missa solemnis at the Styriarte Festival in Graz and at the Salzburg Festival in summer 2015 were Nikolaus Harnoncourt's last concerts. After his retirement from the stage later that year, it was Mr. Harnoncourt's express wish that this album, made from the material captured at the Graz concerts and rehearsals, also be his last released recordings. Beethoven's late masterpiece has thus become the final chapter of an unparalleled discography spanning 65 years"--Container
