14 editions published in 2010 in German and English and held by 247 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Joos van Cleve, Leonardo des Nordens by Joos van Cleve( Book )

6 editions published in 2011 in German and Undetermined and held by 130 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

6 editions published in 2012 in German and held by 117 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Cornelis Pietersz.

Deaf, dumb & brilliant : Johannes Thopas, master draughtsman by Rudolf E. O Ekkart( Book )

4 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 92 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Until recently, the Dutch draughtsman Johannes Thopas, who was born deaf in 1626, was only known to a small group of connoisseurs, dealers and collectors. However, his remarkable, subtle and technically refined portrait drawings on parchment deserve a wider audience. This handsome publication, the first devoted to his work, will prove to be an eye opener for many art lovers. Beginning with his earliest works (two beautiful miniatures of 1646 in the Fundation Custodia in Paris), Thopas produced incredibly refined drawings, usually with lead point on parchment. Apart from lead-point drawings, Thopas made several drawings in colour, on parchment and on Japanese paper. In most cases these drawings were done after life. Furthermore, he produced at least one brilliant copy after a painting by Cornelis Cornelisz van Haarlem, Venus, Mars and Cupid, and even a painting, portraying a dead child. He must have made more paintings and certainly more drawings than the seventy we know today (all of which are catalogued and illustrated here). In this exhibition his only known painting and the one mythological drawing are shown and accompanied by thirty of his most beautiful portraits, from private collections in the US, Canada, United Kingdom and the Netherlands, as well as museums, such as the Albertina in Vienna, the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum, the Städel in Frankfurt and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London

Blut und Tränen : Albrecht Bouts und das Antlitz der Passion by Albrecht Bouts( Book )

5 editions published in 2016 in German and held by 79 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

With prestigious loans from the National Gallery London, the Prado Museum and the Louvre among others, the exhibition Blood & Tears. Albrecht Bouts and the Image of the Passion brings together for the first time exceptional works from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Albrecht Bouts (1451/55-1549) is the son of Dirk Bouts (ca. 1415-1475), a renowned Early Netherlandish painter with a pan-European reputation. He takes over his father's workshop in 1475 and runs it until his death in 1549. Albrecht specializes in portraits of Christ, the Holy Virgin and Saint John the Baptist for contemplation. This movement, known as Devotio Moderna, encourages the faithful to pray in private in front of devotional images to stimulate empathy. In order to satisfy a growing demand for such images, Albrecht Bout's workshop expands into a large enterprise, producing paintings in great number. While some are based on famous prototypes by Dirk Bouts, Albrecht creates a number of successful new compositions. Exhibition: Musée National d'Histoire et d'Art, Luxembourg City, Luxemburg (07.10.2016-12.02.2017) / Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum, Aachen, Germany (08.03.-11.06.2017)

A member of the historic Magnum Photos cooperative, Dennis Stock took classic portraits of actors, jazz singers and hippies, as well as photographs of the natural beauty of Hawaii, the Far East, Japan, and Alaska. Arguably, Stock's most famous portrait is of the actor James Dean walking through Times Square in 1955 - the year of his death. In addition to the portraits of Dean, this collection includes a dazzling selection from Stock's oeuvre. An insightful essay introduces the photographer along with an extensive biography
