Immune response and the eye by J. Wayne Streilein( )

23 editions published between 1999 and 2007 in English and Undetermined and held by 363 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The second edition of Immune 'Response and the Eye' highlights recent insights into the 'dangerous compromise' between the immune system and the eye, which protects the eye against pathogens while limiting inflammation and immune-mediated injury to ocular tissues with little or no regenerative potential. It discusses the broad spectrum of physiological, immunological, anatomical, and biochemical adaptations that conspire to closely regulate the tone and tenor of immune responses in the eye. This volume further describes immune-mediated diseases that occur when the compromise between the immune
Hamster immune responses in infectious and oncologic diseases by J. Wayne Streilein( Book )

10 editions published in 1981 in English and held by 252 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume comprises the written contributions of participants in a symposium held in Dallas, Texas, June 3-5, 1980. This more recent meeting was more pointed in its focus and the contributions appeared to be more tightly associated. These meetings are part of an extended effort by experimentalists using the Syrian hamster as an animal model system to bring together workers in potentially related areas for the exchange of ideas and information. The success of the symposia derives partly from the scientific excellence of the contributing scientists, and partly from the financial support of the National Institutes of Health through the Fogarty International Center. The administration of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, under President Charles C. Sprague, also donated time, facilities, and financial support. Preparation of the manuscripts in this volume, as camera-ready copy for the publisher, was the diligent and dedicated effort of Ms. Sara Howard. Copy editing was expertly performed by Ms. Sandra Schulte and proof-reading was the responsibility of Dr. Patricia Fultz and Ms. Alix Gerboth. However, final responsibility for any errors and omis

Antigen-presenting cells and the eye by Manfred Zierhut( )

6 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 111 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In recent years the importance of antigen-presenting cells and their influence on the eyes has been elucidated. We have learned that nearly every structure of the eye harbors these cells, yet they differ in their activities and thus in the ways in which they protect against - or participate in - diseases of the eye. Antigen-Presenting Cells and the Eye summarizes current knowledge about ACPs in general, and their role in the eye, in particular
