Ein junger Edelmann namens Florio trifft auf dem Weg in die Stadt Lucca den Sänger Fortunato. Am Abend gehen beide auf ein rauschendes Fest in Lucca, wo Florio sich in die schöne Bianka verliebt. Hier lernt Florio auch den dunkler Ritter Donati kennen. Als Florio spät in seiner Herberge keinen Schlaf findet, schleicht er sich aus der Herberge in die mondbeschienene Landschaft und entdeckt einen wie verzaubert daliegenden Park. Darin sieht er das Marmorbild der Göttin Venusm das eine tiefe Wehmut in ihm hervorruft. Am nächsten Morgen sucht Florio abermals den geheimnisvollen Park auf, findet diesen aber in fröhlich, alltäglichem Betrieb und statt des Marmorbilds eine singende Edelfrau. Florio versucht die Identität der schönen Edelfrau herauszubringen und gerät dabei immer tiefer in ein irritierendes Spiel von Schein und Wirklichkeit. Immer tiefer gerät Florio in den Bann der schönen Dame und die sie umgebenden Trugbilder, die ihn zuletzt so sehr erschrecken, das er beschließt aus Lucca abzureisen. Die schöne Lesung stammt von der Münchner Schauspielerin und Sprecherin Elisabeth Rass
