Stille und bewegte Bilder = Images, still and moving by Abbas Kiarostami( Book )

3 editions published in 2012 in German and held by 81 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Abbas Kiarostami (*1940 in Teheran) became known primarily for his films made in the seventies, which were awarded prizes at film festivals such as Cannes (Golden Palm 1997) and Venice. Despite large-scale solo exhibitions at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the photographic oeuvre of this artist, who studied painting, has yet to be showcased in germanophone countries. Whereas Kiarostami's films contain haunting images of the human experience, he trains his photographic eye on untouched landscapes, often taking years to develop the images into series such as 'Snow White' (1978-2004) and 'Rain and Wind' (2007)

Nothing-- and everthing : the De Stijl artist Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart( Book )

3 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 76 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart (1899-1962) was one of the most influential artists of German Constructivism and, amongst other things, a member of the De Stijl group surrounding Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg. 2012 marks the fiftieth anniversary of his death, which is a fitting occasion for a richly illustrated survey of his work. Selected works and documents, some of them never before made public, present Vordemberge-Gildewart not only as a painter and graphic artist but also as an interior designer, typographer and architect. Sketches and photo-collages from his visitors' books also give a picture of his artistic environment, which included not only László Moholy-Nagy and Hannah Höch but also writers such as Joachim Ringelnatz

Thomas Florschuetz : assembly by Thomas Florschuetz( Book )

4 editions published in 2013 in German and held by 61 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Thomas Florschuetz (born 1957 in Zwickau) has created an individual aesthetic characterized by an abstraction that is achieved by means of close-up shots and focusing on detail. Visual axes, wall surfaces, and recesses merge to become independent compositions. 'The Assembly series', which the artist began producing in 2010, is a photographic juxtaposition of the Indian Palace of Justice and parliament in Chandigarh designed by Le Corbusier with Brasilia, the newly constructed capital of Brazil by Oscar Niemeyer. In their comparative treatment, the fact that the seats of government in Chandigarh as well as in Brasilia were conceived on the drawing board is as interesting as the fact that the two architects were teacher and student. Other photographs, for example, show the demolition of the Palace of the Republic in Berlin or the New Museum on the German capital's Museum Island shortly before its completion and restoration. Exhibition: Museum Wiesbaden, Germany (27.4.-8.9.2013)
Sabine Dehnel : reframing : übermalen eines Moments by Sabine Dehnel( Book )

5 editions published in 2013 in German and English and held by 57 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book presents German artist Sabine Dehnel's (born 1971) new series of staged photographs, in which she carefully paints the skin of her models. Mona, named after da Vinci's masterpiece, explores the relationship between idols, heroes, cult figures and their admirers
Fluxus at 50 by Alexander Klar( Book )

6 editions published in 2012 in English and German and held by 56 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The first ever Fluxus performance took place 50 years ago as part of the International Fluxus Festival of the Newest Music at the Museum Wiesbaden. Now this key moment is being revived here. Within the framework of the jubilee festival, 'Fluxus at 50' aims to reconstruct and reappraise this performance, musical and artistic movement. The catalogue presents Fluxus stories, motifs and methods using objects, musical scores and images from that period. Reworking the original festivals led to the exposure of a lot of myths, but it still didn't detract from the fascination of the Fluxus idea in itself, which back then spread out from Wiesbaden to change the world
