Optimierungsmethoden : eine Einführung by
D Jungnickel(
Book
)
14 editions published between 1999 and 2015 in German and held by 421 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Finite fields and applications : proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Finite Fields and Applications Fq5,
held at the University of Augsburg, Germany, August 26, 1999 by
D Jungnickel(
Book
)
19 editions published between 1999 and 2013 in English and held by 217 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The Fifth International Conference on Finite Fields and Applications Fq5 held at the University of Augsburg, Germany, from August 26, 1999 continued a series of biennial international conferences on finite fields. The proceedings document the steadily increasing interest in this topic. Finite fields have an inherently fascinating structure and are important tools in discrete mathematics. Their applications range from combinatorial design theory, finite geometries, and algebraic geometry to coding theory, cryptology, and scientific computing. A particularly fruitful aspect is the interplay between theory and applications which has led to many new perspectives in research on finite fields. This interplay has always been a dominant theme in Fq conferences and was very much in evidence at Fq5. The proceedings reflect this, and offer an uptodate collection of surveys and original research articles by leading experts in the area

Difference Sets, Sequences and their Correlation Properties by
Alexander Pott(
)
1 edition published in 1999 in English and held by 44 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The explanation of the formal duality of Kerdock and Preparata codes one of the outstanding recent results in applied algebra is related to the discovery of large sets of quadriphase sequences over Z4 whose correlation properties are better than those of the best binary sequences. Moreover, the correlation properties of sequences are closely related to difference properties of certain sets in (cyclic) groups. <br/> Most of the articles collected here contain descriptions of the connection between difference sets, sequences and correlation properties of sequences. There are two more elementary introductory articles: an introduction to difference sets (by two of the editors), and an introduction to the correlation of sequences (by Solomon Golomb)
