Ott-Helmuth von Lossnitzer : technical director of the Mauser Company 1933-1945 : an oral recollection( Book )

2 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In his almost 90 years, Ott Helmuth von Lossnitzer (1898-1989) lived a remarkable life, In his professional career, he rose to become one of the leading industrialistst (sic) of the German Third Reich. From 1933 onward, he was the technical director of one of the major German small arms manufacturers, the Mauser Works in Oberndorf. In 1944 he was appointed head of the Special Committee on Infantry Weapoons, entrusted with all infantry weapons development and responsible only to Albert Speer. Even more remarkable is that Von Lossnitzer rose to an almost equally high position in the United States, after moving to that country in 1947. By 1958, Von Lossnitzer had become supervisor for the department which was responsible for all U.S. small arms development up to and including 40mm. Information on peope (sic) like Von Lossnitzer is scarce. In this case, however, we are lucky to have a rare document: a self-told tale of his experiences between his entering the Mauser Works in 1933, and his move to the United States in 1947. This exiting (sic) tale is published here for the first time, together with an integral English translation of the Monthly reports of the advanced Mauser Weapons Research institute, drawn up from October 1943 up to February 1945. An appendix has been included on the projects discussed by the Special Committee on Infantry Weapons. The major part of the British-American intelligence report on the Mauser Works, the famous CIOS report, is included as well."--Back cover
