2 editions published in 1975 in English and held by 34 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Producer) This program approaches the interpretation of clinical blood gas measurements from the physiologic viewpoint. It emphasizes the abnormal mechanisms that produce hypoxemia and hypercapnia, and stresses the importance of understanding the underlying physiology. Actual examples of the application of blood gas analysis to patients in a variety of situations are used to teach the viewer how to distinguish between the various causes of hypoxemia. The viewer learns to detect hypoxemia due to decreased ventilation, shunting, and abnormal matching of ventilation and blood flow. The physiologic principles of oxygen therapy are included in the discussion of case material
The Pathology of chronic airflow obstruction( Visual )

The presentation does not include a complete classification of emphysema and extensive emphysemais not discussed. Nevertheless, excepting that several slides are poorly done, the presentation is recommended as an introduction for medical, dental and nursing students who have some prior background in anatomy and physiology

2 editions published in 1977 in English and held by 27 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

(Critica) A discussion of the type II cytotoxic pulmonary disease immunologic diseases of the lung is presented in this program detailing the fundamentals of the cytoxic pulmonary reaction, and its chemical cellular mediators. A sample case history with Good Pasture Syndrome as the representative disease illustrates this type of immunologic reaction. The role of complement activation as an integral part of the type II cytotoxic reaction and the cytolytic nature of the type II allergic reaction are stressed. A general review of the complement system is included. The narration is slow, well-planned and flows easily with the excellent slide presentation. The program is highly recommended primarily for viewers who have some fundamental knowledge of the topic
