The long goodbye by Robert Altman( Visual )

5 editions published between 1973 and 2014 in English and held by 804 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

For The Long Goodbye, Robert Altman successfully transports Philip Marlowe, incarnated by Elliott Gould, to the over-privileged, full-color 70s. Marlowe is lonely and shabby, yet does not seem an anachronism in the contemporary world. Unlike Bogart's Marlowe, this is a not especially tough Marlowe. He's a bright, conscientiously solemn nut, a guy who hopes for the best but expects the worst. This particular Philip Marlowe, despite evidence to the contrary, persists in believing that not all relationships need be opportunistic or squalid

Moanin' by Art Blakey( Recording )

4 editions published between 1963 and 1999 in Undetermined and No Linguistic content and held by 456 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This is a particularly obscure live set by Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, one not even listed in most discographies. The 1968 edition of Blakey's band was a strong if underrated unit consisting of the drummer/leader, trumpeter Bill Hardman, trombonist Julian Priester, tenor saxophonist Billy Harper, pianist Ronnie Mathews and bassist Lawrence Evans. This CD is well-recorded and is highlighted by "Slide's Delight," Harper's ballad feature on "You Don't Know What Love Is," and a spirited remake of "Moanin." [This is the 1968 Laserlight edition of the LP.] Scott Yanow

Una de las mejores grabaciones de la larga historia del jazz fue hecha cuando cinco de los mejores músicos de jazz, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderly, Art Blakey, y los otros grandes, se reunieron para esta grabación.
