Fish collections in the Spring and early Summer of 1988 yielded 920 specimens from 12 general locations in the St. Lawrence river drainage in the Massena, New York - Cornwall, Ontario area. From the total sample, 348 fishes were selected to represent a variety of species which might be utilized by local residents or other users of the fishery resource in this area of the St. Lawrence river. The purpose of the project were two-fold: 1) To develop a health risk assessment of fish species utilized by the populace and 2) To evaluate spatial relationships of contaminants with respect to sources. This report examines this second objective. The contaminant group of particular interest was PCB but additional analyses on several organochlorine pesticides, mercury, lead, acid extractable and base neutral compounds, plus the dioxin and dibenzofuran components are reported
