Landon Carter was born in 1710 in Virginia. He was married three times to Elizabeth Wormeley, Maria Byrd, and Elizabeth Beale and had nine children. He was a member of the House of Burgess and gives many insights into the thinking of the time. Correspondence and journal entries between 1775 and 1784, as well as land documents from 1659 to 1774 are also included in this material
