Inspired by a gift from his son, Arno Stolz developed the idea of a miniature gallery of typographic works. In 1980, he began writing letters to well-known designers from around the world, asking for a creative contribution to help fill the compartments of typesetting boxes. The result is a mosaic of about 300 unique pieces presented in these relics from the days of hot type. This is enriched and supplemented by the extensive correspondence that Arno Stolz conducted with the designers over almost three decades. Both the artworks and the remarkable collection of letters and New Year's cards are presented in this publication. An introductory section provides the necessary background to fully grasp the significance of the "Gallery in the Type Case".0/0Angeregt durch ein Geschenk seines Sohnes entwickelte Arno Stolz die Idee einer Miniatur-Galerie typografischer Exponate: In persönlichen Briefen hat er ab 1980 bekannte Gestalter aus der ganzen Welt um einen kreativen Beitrag gebeten, um damit die Fächer gleich mehrerer Setzkästen zu füllen. So entstand aus den Relikten aus Zeiten des Bleisatzes ein Mosaik aus rund 300 ganz besonderen Unikaten. 0Bereichert und ergänzt wird dieses durch die umfangreiche Korrespondenz, die Arno Stolz dazu über fast drei Jahrzehnte mit den Gestaltern geführt hat. Sowohl die Kunstwerke als auch die bemerkenswerte Sammlung von Briefen und Neujahrskarten werden in dieser Publikation erstmalig vorgestellt.
