Mit seinem Live-Hörspiel-Format Kaminski ON AIR inszeniert Stefan Kaminski das monumentale Meisterwerk um Macht, Liebe, Gier, Rache und die Abgründe der menschlichen Gesellschaft modern und klassisch zugleich. Voller Aberwitz und Komik, sogar Slapstick, dann wieder mit tiefer Tragik in zarten Momenten knapp über der Stille und herrlichem Pathos führt dieser Vierteiler ungebremst in die Apokalypse. Von Musikern begleitet schlüpft der Ausnahmesprecher selbst in alle Rollen, spricht Riesen und Zwerge, Frauen und Männer, Götter und Herrscher, Geliebte und außergewöhnliche Helden. Musik, Atmosphäre und Geräuschmaterial werden live gespielt und erzeugt. "Man sollte den Stoff am besten in groben Zügen kennen, dann nämlich hat man besonders viel Spaß an den Verfremdungen. Kaminskis Ring-Version hat viele parodistische Elemente, macht sich aber nie lustig. Und bei allen klanglichen Unterschieden: Textlich bleibt er nah bei Wagner, durchsetzt die Geschichte dazu mit einer gehörigen Portion Moderne - und mit Zitaten aus Shakespeares "Hamlet" oder Tolkiens "Herr der Ringe". Jeder der vier Teile klingt anders: Das sphärische Rheingold wird gefolgt von der erdig-dumpfen Walküre voller Tuba- und Cello-Klängen, während Siegfried an vielen Stellen wie ein 80er-Jahre-Neue-Deutsche-Welle-Pop-Musical daherkommt" (ndr.de)
