Thomas Mendenhall, a Quaker, and his wife, Joan, probably lived in or near Marriage Hill, Wiltshire, England. The had nine children, several of whom immigrated to America. Thomas died in 1682 and is buried at Marriage Hill. His sons, John Mendenhall (1659-1758) and Benjamin Mendenhall (1662-1740) settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Their descendants listed, chiefly following the male lines, lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Utah, California, and elsewhere

Henry Whitson immigrated to America in 1635 and lived for awhile in Connecticut. He was living at Hempstead, Long Island, by 1647, and moved to Huntington in 1653. He died there in 1669, leaving his wife, Rebecca Foster, and a minor son. His son, Thomas Whitson (1652-1742), married Martha Jones, daughter of Thomas and Catharine Estes Scudder Jones, ca. 1687. They had seven children, 1689-1707. Descendants listed lived in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere

Samuel Beeson (b. 1759), a Quaker, and his wife, Elizabeth (b. 1762), had six children, 1785-1802, according to the records of the Deep River Monthly Meeting. Their son, Richard Beeson (b. 1788), married Nancy Cain in 1807. They had six children, 1807-1824. They settled in Greene County, Ohio, in 1808. The family migrated to Randolph County, Indiana, in 1818, then moved to Allen County, Indiana, in 1825. He died at or near Fort Wayne, Indiana. Record chiefly follows line of descent to the author, Cecil Everett Beeson. He was born in 1905 at Wabash, Indiana, the son of William Henry Beeson (b. 1872) and Jennie Jenks Beeson (1873-1912). His family moved to Hartford City, Indiana, ca. 1911. He married Hannah Catherine Sills (b. 1910) in 1938. They had two sons, 1930-1931. They were divorced in 1934. He married 2) Cittie Pearl Helm (b. 1908) in 1938 at Louisville, Kentucky. They had two children, 1939-1941, born at Hartford City, Indiana
