Arizona statewide alternate route plan by Henry B Wall( Book )

3 editions published in 1999 in English and held by 24 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Increasing traffic volumes on Arizona's State Highway System are contributing to the increased frequency and duration of incident-caused rural highway closures, amplifying the need to effectively divert traffic around these situations. Through this research project, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in collaboration with other state agencies, is addressing the need for a statewide, seamless and homogenous set of current alternate routes to supplement the existing detours developed by ADOT District offices. To accomplish this goal, this project developed an alternate route database in close cooperation with the ADOT Districts and Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZ DPS). The alternate route electronic database and workbook will be distributed both internally within ADOT and to DPS as a controlled document
Strategic plan for statewide deployment of intelligent transportation systems in Arizona by Henry B Wall( Book )

2 editions published in 1998 in English and held by 21 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report presents the methodology and results of a study to develop a strategic plan to deploy Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS) throughout rural Arizona. Needs were identified by various stakeholders at Rural ITS Workshops, focus group meetings, and regional Coalition meetings around the state. These needs were then matched, where possible, to one or more of the 36 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) User Services defined in the National Program Plan and Advanced Rural Transportation Systems (ARTS) program. Using the National ITS Architecture as a guide, a conceptual system architecture was developed for Arizona, which includes integration with other architectures developed for previous strategic plans in the state
Rural highway mayday deployment plan by Sharon Hansen( Book )

2 editions published in 1999 in English and held by 21 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) study focused upon the application of Mayday strategies to meet emergency response challenges along the US 93 corridor in Northwest Arizona. Due to the lack of consistent communications availability on US 93, automated in-vehicle technologies along with their costs were not deemed practical at this time. The project focused on mass market accessibility so that all travelers on the corridor would have access to whatever implementation was recommended. A diverse approach to accident identification and notification was developed, arriving at a recommendation for three Mayday Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and stakeholder-defined projects: Motorist Assistance Patrol; Emergency Telephones; and Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO) Corridor Watch Program
