Martin Kippenberger : the problem perspective by Martin Kippenberger( Book )
10 editions published between 2008 and 2009 in English and held by 435 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Martin Kippenberger (1953-1997) is a special case in art. His life and works were inextricably linked in a remarkable practice that centered on the role of the artist within both the culture and the system of art. With his larger-than-life persona, Kippenberger cast himself as impresario, entertainer, curator, bohemian, collector, architect, and publisher. He collected art, set up clothing companies and nightclubs, and ran art-world scams. Nothing was sacred to this iconoclast except the right to satisfy his enormous appetite for life, appropriate anything for his art, and create continual chaos around himself. This book, which accompanies the first major U.S. retrospective exhibition of Kippenberger's work, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, documents Kippenberger's extraordinary twenty-year career with works in many media - paintings, sculptures, works on paper, installations, photographs, collaborations with other artists, posters, postcards, books, and music. Among the major works reproduced are key selections from the I.N.P. Bilder (Is Not Embarrassing Pictures) and No Problem paintings of the 1980s; the landmark 1987 exhibition of sculpture "Peter. Die russische Stellung" ("Peter. The Russian Position"); self-portraits in a variety of media; Laterne an Betrunkene (Street Lamp for Drunks); the Raft of the Medusa cycle of the 1990s; the renowned Hotel drawings; and the monumental installation, The Happy End of Franz Kafka's "Amerika." Accompanying the artworks is an essay by exhibition curator Ann Goldstein; newly commissioned texts by art historian Pamela Lee, Kippenberger scholar Diedrich Diederichsen, and curator Ann Temkin; reprinted excerpts from a 1991 interview with Kippenberger by artist Jutta Koether; and an illustrated exhibition history, chronology, and bibliography. Martin Kippenberger: The Problem Perspective offers readers the most comprehensive view yet of this legendary artist's body of work."--BOOK JACKET

Isa Genzken by Alex Farquharson( Book )
6 editions published in 2006 in English and held by 307 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Isa Genzken's work encompasses sculpture, collage, painting and photography. One of the leading artists to have emerged in Germany since the 1980s, Genzken is notable for the way she combines personal elements with references to architecture, modernism and art history. She is interested in the ruins of material culture, particularly architectural detritus, and the combination of materials in her work is remarkable, encompassing animal heads, fluorescent plastic, spray-painted pine cones, concrete blocks, glass, mirrored sheets, aeroplane windows and children's umbrellas, to name a few. Her work can be aesthetically brutal, as with her Empire/Vampire series (2003-5) - agglomerations of toys and unrelated found objects roughly splattered with paint - and strikingly beautiful, as with her New Buildings for Berlin (2001-4) - small, impeccable crafted glass and silicone skyscrapers. One of her best known and loved works, Rose (1993/7), is a public sculpture of a single long-stemmed rose made from enamelled stainless steel that towers eight metres above Leipzig's museum district Genzken has been exhibiting since the 1970s, and her work has appeared in many of the world's highest-profile exhibitions, including Documenta (1982, 1992 and 2002), the Venice Biennale (1982, 1993 and 2003), Skulptur Projekte in Munster (1987 and 1997) and the Carnegie International in Pittsburgh (2005)."--BOOK JACKET

Kippenberger - der Film dieses Leben kann nicht die Ausrede für das Nächste sein ( Visual )
2 editions published in 2007 in German and held by 69 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
(Verlagsinformation)
Geoffrey Farmer by Geoffrey Farmer( Book )
2 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 68 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This Sourcebook is a space of reflection occasioned by the exhibition. Three extraordinary essayists - Diedrich Diederichsen, Vanessa Desclaux and Thierry Davila -- were invited to encounter the artist's mercurial practice in different contexts. They speculate on his inventive approach to temporality, to the spaces of theater, film and performance, and to the workings of memory, meaning and art historical references. Farmer himself recomposes visual and texual fragments of his exhibition, which after a month of daily transformation came to be known as Forgetting Air
