"The ECERS-R is a thorough revision of the widely used program quality assessment instrument, the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS). Designed for use in preschool, kindergarten, and child care classrooms serving children 2 1/2 through 5 years of age, the ECERS-R can be used by program directors for supervision and program improvement, by teaching staff for self-assessment, by agency staff for monitoring, and in teacher training programs. The established reliability and validity of the scale make it particularly useful for research and program evaluation."--Jacket

"Featuring a new spiral binding, the updated ITERS-R offers more practical assistance in the form of additional notes for clarification and an Expanded Score Sheet, which incorporates notes and tables to assist in scoring. However, the items and indicators remain the same as in the original ITERS-R." "Designed for use in center-based child care programs for infants and toddlers up to 30 months of age, the ITERS-R can be used by program directors for supervision and program improvement, by teaching staff for self-assessment, by agency staff for monitoring, and in teacher training programs. The established reliability and validity of the scale make it particularly useful for research and program evaluation."--Jacket

The School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale (sacers) presented in this booklet is a comprehensive rating scale for school-age child care programs that is based on criteria for developmental appropriateness for this age group. The sacers is intended to be used in center-based care rather than in family child care homes. The booklet begins with an introductory section which discusses the development of the sacers, including the rationale for its development, and a discussion of its reliability and validity. The second section contains instructions for using the SACERs. The third and largest section of the booklet contains the actual rating scale items and notes for clarification. An adaptation of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ecers) (Harms and Clifford, 1980) to school-age programs, sacers is composed of 43 items grouped under 6 subscales: Space and Furnishings, Health and Safety, Activities, Interactions, Program Structure, and Staff Development. A set of six supplementary items for centers with special needs children is included. Each item is arranged as a 7-point scale with descriptors for each of the odd numbers: (1) inadequate; (3) minimal; (5) good; (7) excellent. The last section of the booklet is a training guide for administration of the sacers, with information on preparing to use the scale, conducting a practice observation, and determining rater reliability. Training activities and an answer key are included. (Dr)

Nutrition activities for preschoolers by Debby Cryer( Book )

2 editions published in 1996 in English and held by 239 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Just like the rest of us, preschoolers are naturally interested in the food they eat. Nutrition Activities for Preschoolers takes advantage of this interest to provide an ongoing, everyday emphasis on good health and nutrition throughout the early childhood curriculum. The enjoyable activities in this book are related to the typical preschool classroom learning centers - blocks, books, pretend play, science and math, art, music, and so on - as well as meal and snack times. Teachers will find plenty of support in the appendixlists of related books and cookbooks, patterns, games to play, and newsletters to parents." "A special feature of this book is a training manual for teachers, which outlines a staff workshop for using the book to create awareness of good health habits."--Jacket
