The nervous systems of invertebrates : an evolutionary and comparative approach by Olaf Breidbach( Book )

16 editions published between 1991 and 1995 in English and held by 256 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In this volume outstanding specialists review the state of the art in nervous system research for all main invertebrate groups. They provide a comprehensive up-to-date analysis important for everyone working on neuronal aspects of single groups, as well as taking into account the phylogenesis of invertebrates. The articles report on recently gained knowledge about diversification in the invertebrate nervous systems, and demonstrate the analytical power of a comparative approach. Novel techniques in molecular and developmental biology are creating new perspectives that point toward a theoretical foundation for a modern organismic biology. The comparative approach, as documented here, will engage the interest of anyone challenged by the problem of structural diversification in biology
Bilder des Wissens : zur Kulturgeschichte der wissenschaftlichen Wahrnehmung by Olaf Breidbach( Book )

6 editions published in 2005 in German and held by 143 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The transformation of science in Germany at the beginning of the nineteenth century : physics, mathematics, poetry, and philosophy by Roswitha Burwick( Book )

5 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 24 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Many books have looked at early nineteenth century science through the lens of the whole of Europe. This book takes a solidly Germanic view of natural science, depicting a view of natural science. It dismantles the well-worn cliché of a speculative philosophy and an empirical natural science that began to move further and further away from each other, ultimately becoming irreconcilable. Such an interpretation of the physical-philosophical discourse into different disciplines imposes the dualistic viewpoint of our own time onto an era where erecting such categorical boundaries between knowledge
