Dan Flavin, Lights by Dan Flavin( Book )

6 editions published in 2012 in English and German and held by 207 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In the early 1960s, US artist Dan Flavin (1933-1996) began using commercially available fluorescent tubes in standard sizes and colours to create an unmistakable œuvre. Precision and careful calculation are bound together with a sensual aura. By choosing the tubes as the material for his works, Flavin signalised the increasing proximity of art with everyday life and the consumer world. The ways in which they are presented are derived from principles of minimalist sobriety."
Giovanni Segantini by Beat Stutzer( Book )

14 editions published in 1999 in English and German and held by 180 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The artist Giovanni Segantini was a leading member of the European avant-garde of his day. He was hailed as an 'innovator', a 'prophet' and a 'revolutionary': in an obituary one critic called him a "Secession in his own right". His work was to be seen in public and private collections alike, and had a major effect on art in Europe at the time. Even the Futurists cited him as a role-model." "This is the first ever Segantini monograph in English. It offers the public an opportunity to see important paintings and drawings by this artist, including his famous triptych La vita - La natura - La morte (Live - Nature - Death). With in-depth essays on the artist's oeuvre - from his early genre paintings, influenced by Realism, right up to his symbolic depictions of Nature in a Divisionist style - this publication is an up-to-date, comprehensive monograph on Giovanni Segantini."--Jacket
Nedko Solakov : emotions by Nedko Solakov( Book )

6 editions published in 2008 in English and German and held by 155 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Nedko Solakov's wide-ranging and exuberant work, which is hard to keep within formal bounds, is a singular assault on the desire for perfection, finality, and clarity. Starting from his studies of mural painting at the art academy in Sofia, the Bulgarian artist (born 1957) has developed an oeuvre over the past twenty-five years that is as humorous as it is playful, as stinging as it is melancholy, and which casts doubt on the authenticity of each and every system of representation. At the latest since his contributions to the 2007 Venice Biennale and Documenta 12, Solakov has occupied one of the central positions within current European art. This publication accompanies a large survey of his oeuvre that includes examples of his work from the late eighties to 2007, combined with pieces that have been created specifically for the exhibition Emotion."--BOOK JACKET
Emily Jacir by Emily Jacir( Book )

9 editions published in 2008 in German and English and held by 154 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A Palestinian living in New York, Emily Jacir became known for her text and photo piece "Where We Come From" (2003), which was shown in the 2004 Whitney Biennial. The work documents Jacir's travels through Palestine - with the liberty of her U.S. passport - performing tasks from the mundane to the poignant for nearly 30 exiled Palestinians from around the world. Jacir, who was born in 1970, takes on such highly fraught collisions of culture, religion and politics with conceptually complex yet elegant and emotionally moving means of resistance. This publication collects recent works, including "From Paris to Riyadh," (1999-2001). In this central work, Jacir, now one of the Middle East's most important contemporary artists, aims to illuminate the overlap between western culture and Arab values by making pencil drawings over the naked skin of models in glossy magazines, censoring certain areas according to the custom practiced in Saudi Arabia and other areas."--BOOK JACKET

Karin Sander : Gebrauchsbilder by Karin Sander( Book )

7 editions published in 2011 in German and held by 79 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Silvia Bächli : far apart, close together by Silvia Bächli( Book )

5 editions published in 2012 in German and held by 73 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Silvia Bächli (b. 1956) is considered to be one of the most important illustrators of her generation in Switzerland. This comprehensive reader will, for the first time, examine the broadness of the presentation forms tried out over the years - less in the sense of a retrospective as a chronological sequence of development steps, but rather as a concise involvement with very different moments of her creative drawing work, giving an insight into the unique graphic cosmos of Bächli. Exhibition: Kunstmuseum, St. Gallen, Switzerland (11.2.-13.5.2012)
Caro Niederer : leben mit kunst = living with art by Caro Niederer( Book )

6 editions published in 2004 in German and English and held by 69 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Magali Reus by Magali Reus( Book )

2 editions published in 2017 in English and held by 54 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Renowned for her interest in the relationship between mass-produced articles and the human body in the context of today's digital society, Magali Reus draws on a vast range of formal influences and references, from the domestic to the industrial, the functional to decorative, creating pieces that evolve as an accumulation and layering of sculptural details. Taking everyday objects as starting points, her work operates on a visual register as a formal configuration, but also as a choreography of emotional and physical experience
