Artist's statement: "The initial idea for this book came out of my participation in The Fourth International Biennale for the Artists' Book hosted by The Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Egypt in the spring of 2010. The assigned theme of nomadism led me to do much research and reflecting on the steady decline of the grasslands of Central Asia and Mongolia, and the disappearance of nomadic pastoralism in those parts of the world. In 2010, Mongolia experienced one of the harshest winters in a decade causing catastrophic losses of herds that may force many nomadic families to abandon their traditional way of life"--Colophon
Nature abhors by Philip Zimmermann( Book )

2 editions published in 2003 in English and held by 28 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"My book entitled Nature Abhors is about loss, the inevitable by-product and, (perhaps pessimistically) the final result of love. In the past four years I have had a great deal of loss in my life. This book is a rumination on what loss has meant for me personally and also what I have found has been a more universal feeling of loss since 9.11. It is determinedly not about that disaster but more about the zeitgeist since that world-changing event."--Bookseller's Website

1 in 3 : women have been slapped, pushed, or shoved by Jaime Shafer( Book )

1 edition published in 2014 in English and held by 17 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"1 in 3 was inspired by recent media attention focusing on domestic violence. Creating this piece proved more difficult than I expected. It forced me to reflect on my own experiences with domestic abuse. Those who have never been in an abusive relationship usually ask, 'Why did s/he stay?' Unless you have experienced it, it is hard to understand. This is not an all-inclusive representation of domestic abuse. However, I hope that the content of this book helps the viewer to better understand the victim's point of view and the lack of resources that often hinder a victim's ability to escape the situation ... The narrative on the covers and end sheets were inspired by personal experience, discussion with others who have experienced abuse, and victims' testimonies"--Colophon

Extinct extant by Alicia Bailey( Book )

1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 11 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In 2011 I made photographs of extinct bird skins held in the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. I photographed seven bird species (Bachman's Warbler, Carolina Parakeet, Dusky Seaside Sparrow, Eskimo Curlew, Heath Hen, Ivory Billed Woodpecker and the Passenger Pigeon) for this project. I have found great pleasure in reading different accounts, ranging from essays to encyclopedic style entries, about species of extinct birds. The continued existence of these birds in the form of skins, specimens and eggs at museums worldwide, is evidence of our impulse to preserve. I have learned that advances in the science of cloning, have some pondering the startling possibility that extinct creatures might be reborn. Preservation, and the work of writers such as Christopher Cokinos (Hope is the Thing With Feathers) and Errol Fuller (Extinct Birds) give many extinct bird species a chance at another form of life. A life lived through story"--Artist's statement at the 23 Sandy Gallery Booksellers' website, viewed on March 11, 2015
