"The invitation to assemble this book was a surprise. Undoubtedly a primary source for the invitation was the conference to honor Chen Ning Yang whom I first met personally on 19 November 1963 when Freeman Dyson invited me to speak at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Before my talk Freeman took me for lunch with the Director, J. Robert Oppenheimer; also joining the lunch was C.N. Yang and his guest, T.T. Wu, whose work I also knew. In accepting the invitation to publish a collection of my review articles I was moved by the fact that I had always talked about my findings in a general way once I had been intrigued by a field. And, if I had actually contributed to an area of science, I was often moved to express what I had learned in its simplest terms and with lots of figures. Indeed, since my earliest days I had often framed my thoughts in terms of two or three-dimensional images. It was also encouraging that my propensity for writing reviews -- with crucial references carefully listed -- had been recognized formally, in 1983, by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences through their James Murray Luck Award for excellence in scientific reviewing"--

Computational logic in multi-agent systems : 10th international workshop, CLIMA X, Hamburg, Germany, September 9-10, 2009 ; revised selected and invited papers by J Dix( )

1 edition published in 2010 in English and held by 22 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

These are the proceedings of the 10th International Workshop on Compu- tional Logic in Multi-Agent Systems (CLIMA-X), held September 9-10, 2009 in Hamburg, co-located with MATES. The purpose of the CLIMA workshops is to provide a forum for discussing techniques, based on computational logic, for representing, in a formal way, programming and reasoning about agents and multi-agent systems. Multi-agentsystemsarecommunitiesofproblem-solvingentitiesthatcanp- ceive and act upon their environment in order to achieve both their individual goals and their joint goals. The work on such systems integrates many techno- giesandconceptsfromarti?cialintelligenceandotherareasofcomputingaswell as other disciplines. Over recent years, the agent paradigm gained popularity, due to its applicability to a full spectrum of domains, such as search engines, recommendation systems, educational support, e-procurement, simulation and routing, electroniccommerceandtrade, etc.Computationallogicprovidesawe- de?ned, general, and rigorousframeworkfor studying the syntax, semantics and procedures for the various tasks in individual agents, as well as the interaction between, and integration among, agents in multi-agent systems. It also provides tools, techniques and standards for implementations and environments, for li- ing speci?cations to implementations, and for the veri?cation of properties of individual agents, multi-agent systems and their implementations. These proceedings feature nine regularpapers (from a total of 18 papers s- mitted), as wellas one paper basedonthe invited talk givenby TranCao Son. Computational logic in multi-agent systems by João Alexandre Leite( )

1 edition published in 2010 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th International Workshop on Computational Logic in Multi-Agent Systems, CLIMA XV, held in Prague, Czech Republic, in August 2014. The 12 regular papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 20 submissions. The purpose of the CLIMA workshops is to provide a forum for discussing techniques, based on computational logic, for representing, programming and reasoning about agents and multi-agent systems in a formal way. This edition will feature two special sessions: logics for agreement technologies and logics for games, strategic reasoning, and social choice

Executable modal and temporal logics : IJCAI '93 Workshop, Chambery, France, August 28, 1993 : proceedings by IJCAI '93 Workshop( Book )

1 edition published in 1995 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This volume presents the thoroughly revised proceedings of the IJCAI '93 Workshop on Executable Modal and Temporal Logics held in Chambery, France in August 1993. The direct execution of logical statements, through languages such as PROLOG, has proved remarkably successful within CS and AI. In recent years a variety of nonclassical logics have been introduced and several executable forms of these logics have been applied to programming. This volume addresses a range of approaches to executable modal and temporal logics, not only from a logical point of view, but also from programming language and application standpoints; in addition, an introductory survey and an annotated bibliography are presented."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE
Excursions in the land of statistical physics : selected reviews by Michael E Fisher( )

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This book is a compilation of selected reviews by Professor Michael E Fisher. Fisher's major contributions to physics have been in equilibrium statistical mechanics, and have spanned the entire range of that subject. He has been credited with bringing together, and teaching a common language to chemists and physicists working on diverse problems of phase transitions. Talking informally in a clear way came naturally once intrigued by a field of science; that helped me accept the invitation to publish a collection of review articles. And working actively in an area has led me to express what is new in basic terms, with lots of figures framed, typically, via two- or three-dimensional images. Also encouraging was that my reviews — with crucial references — were recognized in 1983 by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences through their James Murray Luck Award for "excellence in scientific reviewing."--Publisher's website
