"Paralleling the dramatic student protests and riots that were exploding across the world in the 1960s when the film was made, The Confrontation is a story of rebellion in Hungary in 1947, after the Communist Party had just taken power. Told in an operatic but supremely naturalistic style with songs of revolution used to punctuate the narrative and shot in long fluid takes, The Confrontation combines a radical aesthetic with radical politics to become a film as revolutionary in form as it is in subject."--Publisher's website
