"The core of Nadja is Breton's complex relationship with an unpredictable and unconventional young woman, 'the extreme limit of the Surrealist aspiration'. Combining autobiographical fact with memory and imagination, Breton spins one of the most unusual love stories in modern literature and illustrates the notion of 'petrifying coincidence', a cornerstone of Surrealist thought."--Jacket

The belly of Paris by Émile Zola( Book )

23 editions published between 1971 and 2012 in French and held by 127 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Little known in this country, The Belly of Paris (Le Ventre de Paris) is one of Emile Zola's most wonderfully descriptive, humorous, and exciting fictions. In this novel the author of Germinal, L'Assommoir, Nana and Therese Raquin chooses as his locale the newly built food markets of Paris. Into this extravagance of food - which Zola describes in set pieces that wet the tongue, excite the ear, and stir up the belly - he places his young hero, the half-starved Florent, who has just escaped imprisonment in Cayenne. Florent finds himself at odds with a world he now knows is unjust. Gradually he takes up with the local Socialists, who are more at home in bars than on the revolutionary streets

Dictionnaire des écrivains du monde by Pierre Brunel( Book )

14 editions published between 1984 and 1998 in French and Spanish and held by 116 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Quelques écrivains québécois figurent (R. Ducharme, A. Hébert, M.-C. Blais, Nelligan) mais ni G. Miron, ni H. Aquin. Très utile. Pondéré
