Sir Trevor McDonald takes an adventure along the Mississippi River. Starting at the Gulf of Mexico, Sir Trevor's journey leads him to encounter an array of characters and locations. At 2,320 miles long, the Mississippi River, often referred to as 'Ole Miss', represents the heart of America. It's the prism through which the story of America's past and present can be told. Today the Mississippi has turned the United States into one of the greatest food producers in the world. 'Ole Miss' is also responsible for bringing together the different music styles and influences that lead to the birth of rock 'n' roll. Stepping away from the redneck, backwater stereotypes, Sir Trevor will show viewers how the Mississippi is still influencing lives and culture today
The secret Caribbean with Trevor McDonald ( Visual )
3 editions published between 2009 and 2013 in English and held by 302 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Part 1:Trevor visits Necker Island - a family home for Richard Branson but also a luxury getaway for the super-rich. From there he sees what life is like in Cuba before going to his birthplace, Trinidad, where he enjoys Carnival, a day of colourful and noisy celebrations. - Part 2: Trevor visits three starkly different islands - Musha Cay, Jamaica and Barbados. Musha Cay is owned by the famous magician David Copperfield, and is possibly the most expensive private island in the Caribbean. In contrast, Trevor is then given permission to visit some of the British women serving time in a Jamaican prison for drug smuggling. Finally he travels on to meet the man who owns most of luxurious Barbados. - Part 3: Trevor witnesses first hand how the forces of nature can make some of the island's most glamorous locations practically uninhabitable. He meets record producer Sir George Martin in Montserrat to witness the devastation caused by 1997's volcanic eruptions, he spends the night on a beach in Grenada watching a leatherback turtle lay her eggs, and on Harbour Island he finds out why Prince Charles' cousin continues to live there despite the hurricanes
Queen & country ( Visual )
3 editions published in 2012 in English and held by 270 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Her 60 years on the throne make her the second longest-serving sovereign in history, and in 2012 all eyes are on Queen Elizabeth II as Britain marks her Diamond Jubilee. In this fascinating series, veteran newsman Sir Trevor McDonald looks not only at the traditions and institutions surrounding the monarchy, but at the fabric of British life and history. From Changing the guard at Buckingham Palace to the collection of Historic Royal Palaces; from a privileged glimpse at the making of a royal portrait to 600 years of counting royal swans on the river Thames; from a potential change to the rules of succession to the pomp and circumstance of a state visit, this is truly a showcase for a queen and her country"--Sell sheet
