Cette aventure incroyable nous plonge dans le monde des pirates sanguinaires, plus vrais que nature, qui s'entredéchirent sur une île brûlée par le soleil. Plongez dans une véritable histoire de pirates devenue un classique de la littérature.L'auteur, Robert Louis Stevenson est né à Edimbourg (Ecosse) en 1850. La mer et les voyages imprègnent déjà sa vie, car ses grands-parents et parents sont de célèbres ingénieurs-bâtisseurs de phares dans le pays. Il termine des études de droit, mais n'exerce jamais. En effet, de santé très fragile, il est contraint à voyager vers des climats plus doux, développant ainsi un goût certain pour le dépaysement et l'exotisme. En 1878, Stevenson part pour 220 kilomètres de marche à travers les Cévennes avec Modestine, son ânesse. Il publiera, un an plus tard, son journal de route, Voyage en Cévennes avec un âne. Son premier succès est la publication de L'Ile au trésor, en 1883. Dans cette histoire, commencée comme un jeu à partir d'une carte dessinée par un enfant, Stevenson débarrasse le récit du discours moral et religieux de l'époque au profit de la logique et de la rêverie. Il signe également un monument du roman fantastique, L'Etrange Cas du Dr Jekyll et de Mr Hyde, en 1886. A partir de 1888, Stevenson ne quitte plus le Pacifique pour raisons de santé ; il voyage (les îles Marquises, Tahiti, Honolulu) et continue à écrire. Installé aux îles Samoa, il y meurt en 1894 et, selon ses voeux, il est enterré sur le pic Vaea. Sa tombe domine l'océan
