Harmonic analysis, partial differential equations and applications : in honor of Richard L. Wheeden by
Sagun Chanillo(
)
13 editions published between 2017 and 2018 in English and German and held by 239 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This is a collection of contributed papers by many eminent Harmonic Analysts and specialists of Partial Differential equations. The papers focus on weighted norm equalities for singular integrals, focusing wave equations, degenerate elliptic equations, NavierStokes flow in two dimensions and PoincareSobolev inequalities in the setting of metric spaces equipped with measures among others. Many topics considered in this volume stem from the interests of Richard L. Wheeden whose contributions to Potential Theory, singular integral theory and degenerate elliptic PDE theory this volume honors. Luis Caffarelli, Sagun Chanillo, Bruno Franchi, Cristian Guttierez, Xiaojun Huang, Carlos Kenig, Ermanno Lanconelli, Eric Sawyer and Alexander Volberg, are some of the many contributors to this volume

Function theory : interpolation and corona problems by
E. T Sawyer(
Book
)
12 editions published between 2009 and 2012 in English and held by 179 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"These lecture notes take the reader from Lennart Carleson's first deep results on interpolation and corona problems in the unit disk to modern analogues in the disk and ball. The emphasis is on introducing the diverse array of techniques needed to attack these problems rather than producing an encyclopedic summary of achievements. Techniques from classical analysis and operator theory include duality, Blaschke product constructions, purely Hilbert space arguments, bounded mean oscillation, best approximation, boundedness of the Beurling transform, the Koszul complex, use of trees, the complete Pick property, and the Toeplitz corona theorem. An extensive appendix on background material in functional analysis and function theory on the disk is included for the reader's convenience."Jacket

The corona problem : connections between operator theory, function theory, and geometry by
Ronald G Douglas(
)
7 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 24 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The purpose of the corona workshop was to consider the corona problem in both one and several complex variables, both in the context of function theory and harmonic analysis as well as the context of operator theory and functional analysis. It was held in June 2012 at the Fields Institute in Toronto, and attended by about fifty mathematicians. This volume validates and commemorates the workshop, and records some of the ideas that were developed within. The corona problem dates back to 1941. It has exerted a powerful influence over mathematical analysis for nearly 75 years. There is material to help bring people up to speed in the latest ideas of the subject, as well as historical material to provide background. Particularly noteworthy is a history of the corona problem, authored by the five organizers, that provides a unique glimpse at how the problem and its many different solutions have developed. There has never been a meeting of this kind, and there has never been a volume of this kind. Mathematiciansboth veterans and newcomerswill benefit from reading this book. This volume makes a unique contribution to the analysis literature and will be a valuable part of the canon for many years to come

Existence of weak solutions to subelliptic partial differential equations in divergence form and the necessity of the Sobolev
and Poincaré inequalities by Scott W Rodney(
)
1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
This work follows that of my supervisor Dr. Eric T. Sawyer and his coauthor Dr. R.L. Wheeden. In [17] the authors consider "weak" solutions of subelliptic partial differenlid equations in divergence form with bounded measurable coefficients. These "weak" solutions are shown to be Holder continuous provided that four conditions are satisfied, two of which are the Sobolev and Poincare inequalities. It is the necessity of these inequalities that are the focus of the first part of this thesis. In [17] the authors were not able to demonstrate the necessity of these inequalities for their definition of subellipticity. However, the authors did demonstrate that the Sobolev and Poincare inequalities are necessary for what is defined to be Lq subellipticity for the homogeneous Dirichlet problem and L2 hypoellipticity for the homogeneous Neumann problem respectively. It will be shown that the Sobolev and Poincare inequalities are equivalent to these notions. This will be done through the rewriting of the linear elliptic theory found in chapter 8 of [6] in the more general setting of subelliptic linear partial differential equations in divergence form. This will involve existence theory as well as the crucial estimates on the Linfinity norm of a "weak" solution to a subelliptic Dirichlet problem and a hypoelliptic L2 estimate of a "weak" solution to a subelliptic Neumann boundary value problem
