Can ethics be taught? : perspectives, challenges, and approaches at Harvard Business School by Thomas Piper( Book )

10 editions published in 1993 in English and held by 912 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book traces the evolution, strategy, and implementation of the pathbreaking Leadership, Ethics, and Corporate Responsibility program at the Harvard Business School. It describes in detail the origins of the initiative for this program, the sophisticated research that went into the approach, timing, and appropriate interventions for working with students and faculty, as well as the design of the program strategy itself. The accomplishments of this program have been substantial: a required course has been introduced into the curriculum; four new electives have been added; course heads have begun to integrate issues of ethics and corporate responsibility into the First Year curriculum; and a large percentage of students have enriched the life of the community, and their own lives, through public service
Educating for values-driven leadership : giving voice to values across the curriculum by Mary C Gentile( )

7 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 818 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Despite four decades of good faith effort to teach Ethics in business schools, readers of the business press are still greeted on a regular basis with headlines about egregious excess and scandal. It becomes reasonable to ask why these efforts have not been working. Business faculty in ethics courses spend a lot of time teaching theories of ethical reasoning and analyzing those big, thorny dilemmas--triggering what one professor called "ethics fatigue." Some students find such approaches intellectually engaging; others find them tedious and irrelevant. Either way, sometimes all they learn is how to frame the case to justify virtually any position, no matter how cynical or self-serving. Utilitarianism, after all, is tailor-made for a free market economy

Giving voice to values : how to speak your mind when you know what's right by Mary C Gentile( )

2 editions published in 2018 in English and held by 11 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

How can you effectively stand up for your values when pressured by your boss, customers, or shareholders to do the opposite' Drawing on actual business experiences as well as on social science research, Babson College business educator and consultant Mary Gentile challenges the assumptions about business ethics at companies and business schools. She gives business leaders, managers, and students the tools not just to recognize what is right, but also to ensure that the right things happen. The book is inspired by a program Gentile launched at the Aspen Institute with Yale School of Management, and now housed at Babson College, with pilot programs in over one hundred schools and organizations, including INSEAD and MIT Sloan School of Management. She explains why past attempts at preparing business leaders to act ethically too often failed, arguing that the issue isn't distinguishing what is right or wrong, but knowing how to act on your values despite opposing pressure. Through research-based advice, practical exercises, and scripts for handling a wide range of ethical dilemmas, Gentile empowers business leaders with the skills to voice and act on their values, and align their professional path with their principles

Dar voz a los valores by Mary C Gentile( Book )

1 edition published in 2012 in Spanish and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
