The papers include correspondence from McCullers to her friend, composer David Diamond (bulk 1941-1945) and collected material relating to McCullers' career as an author. The letters, written from her homes in Columbus (Ga.), Nyack (N.Y.) and from the Yaddo (an Artist's colony in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) discuss her family; her work; and her relationship with her husband Reeves McCullers.
