Herrgården Mårbacka ägdes av Selma Lagerlöfs släkt under flera generationer, men i mitten av 1880-talet blev man tvungen att sälja av ekonomiska skäl. Tack vare sina framgångar lyckades Selma Lagerlöf köpa tillbaka gården, som idag är ett välkänt museum för många av hennes läsare i världen.
