Abraham ist in Astrid Gehlhoff-Claes' neuem Drama der francistische General José Moscardó, welcher zu Beginn des spanischen Bürgerkriegs im Juli 1936 eine von den Republikanern belagerte Festung hält. Diese bringen Moscardós empfindsamen Sohn Luis in ihre Gewalt und wollen den General zur Aufgabe der Festung zwingen, indem sie mit der Tötung seines Sohnes drohen. In eindringlichen poetischen Bildern und Rückblenden schildert die Autorin eine Vater-Sohn-Beziehung, die von dem Wunsch nach bedingungsloser Zuneigung geprägt ist, aber unweigerlich auf die Katastrophe zuzulaufen scheint. - In dem erstmals 1964 veröffentlichten Drama Didos Tod schließlich handelt es sich um ein raffiniertes Vexierspiel um die Frau Dido, die hinter der Legende der Königin von Karthago aus Vergils Aeneas zu verschwinden droht; eine von Einsamkeit und Angst gepeinigte Frau, die hier mit großer Einfühlungsgabe zum Sprechen gebracht wird
