The Seventy weeks, Leviticus, and the nature of prophecy( Book )

3 editions published in 1986 in English and held by 31 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Studies dealing with the 70-week prophecy in Daniel 9, the Old Testament sanctuary service in Leviticus, and the conditionality and fulfillment of prophecy. - With this publishing the committee concludes its present activity on the book of Daniel. Four in-depth studies in Daniel 9 compose the first division of the volume. Exegetical studies in Leviticus form the second section. Important chapters in the third and last portion of the volume deal with the conditionality principle as it relates to Bible prophecy and the issue of single, dual, or multiple prophetic fulfillments. Like volume 2, this work is also a symposium. While it shares the characteristic unevenness of this approach, the method has enabled the Committee to share with the church the expertise of many. It heartily recommends this third volume on prophetic studies to all students of Bible prophecy. - Exegetical Studies in Daniel I Interpretations of the Chronology of the Seventy Weeks, Commencement Date for the Seventy Week Prophecy, The Prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27, The Meaning of Kipper in Daniel 9:24, Exegetical Studies in Leviticus II Literary Form and Theological Function in Leviticus, Transfer of Sin in Leviticus, The Day of Atonement as Related to the Contamination and Purification of the Sanctuary, General Studies III, Conditionality in Biblical Prophecy With Particular Reference to Apocalyptic, ]Fulfillments of Prophecy, Theological Importance of the Preadvent Judgment, An Alternative to Humanism, Justification and Judgement

Doctrine of the sanctuary : a historical survey (1845-1863)( Book )

2 editions published in 1989 in English and held by 29 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 1888 Ellen White wrote, "The subject of the sanctuary was the key which unlocked the mystery of the disappointment of 1844. It opened to view a complete system of truth, connected and harmonious, showing that God's hand had directed the great advent movement and revealing present duty as it brought to light the position and work of His people" (The Great Controversy, 1888 ed., p. 423). Since this central truth came to our people through an extended process of study and clarification over a period of several years, the Committee agreed that one volume of its series should treat the historical development of the sanctuary doctrine. This is that volume. - To the Reader, I. Historical Background (Early Nineteenth Century), II. Among Sabbatarian Adventists (1845-1850), III. Continued Clarification (1850-1863), IV. The Investigative Judgment: Its Early Development, Appendixes, A. William Miller's Use of the Word "Atonement", B. Ellen G. White's Use of Scripture to Explain the Sanctuary Doctrine, C. Challengers to the Doctrine of the Sanctuary, D. Statement on the Desmond Ford Document, E. Christ in the Heavenly Sanctuary (Consensus Document), Index

Issues in revelation and inspiration( Book )

3 editions published between 1992 and 2008 in English and German and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This is the first volume in the Adventist Theological Society's "Occasional Papers" series. It deals with attacks against the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament by those who question the fiat creation, the reality of miracles, the virgin birth of Christ, His divinity, atoning and substitutionary death, and bodily resurrection, as well as His visible and real return in the clouds of heaven. At stake is the very authority of the Scriptures and continued existence of the Bible-centered, Bible-based Seventh-day Adventist Church. - Preface, The Revelation-Inspiration Phenomenon According to the Bible Writers, Raoul Dederen; An Analysis and Evaluation of Alden Thompson's Casebook/Codebook Approach to the Bible, Samuel Koranteng-Pipim; An Evaluation of Alden Thompson's "Incarnational" Method in the Light of His View of Scripture and Use of Ellen White, Norman R. Gulley; On Inspirational and Biblical Authority, Raoul Dederen; Revelation/Inspiration in the Old Testament: A Critique of Alden Thompson's "Incarnational" Model, Richard A. Davidson; Reflections on Alden Thompson's "Law Pyramid" within a Casebook/Codebook Dichotomy, Gerhard F. Hasel; A Few Thoughts on Alden Thompson's Chapter: Numbers, Genealogies, Dates, Randall W Younker; Reflections on the Authority and Trustworthiness of Scripture, Frank M.
