William Hubbard gathered material from letters and eye witnesses to produce this 1677 account of what are known as The Indian Wars, which ranged from sporadic fighting to full-scale wars, including the Pequot War in 1636 and King Philip's War in 1675. Carefully revised, and accompanied with an historical preface, life and pedigree of the author and extensive notes by Samuel G. Drake in 1864, it was reprinted as two volumes in one in 2002
